The world is consisted of six continents.Asia is the largest of all continents.The southern part of this continent comprises Pakistan,Bharat,Bangladesh,Nepal,Bharat-occupied portion of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistani part of Azad Kashmir.This part is known as South Asia.

ry important part of the continent of Asia.The highest mountains of the world are found in South Asia.The Himalayan Ranges are in the north of South Asia. Everest is the highest peak in this range.The Karakurum Range lies in the northwest of the Himalayas.Its highest peak is K2. In the north-west lies Koh-e-Hindukush and in the west is Koh-e-Suleman.Nangaparbat is in Kashmir.The famous hill resorts of Pakistan are Murree,Ayubia,Chitral,Nathiagali,and Kaghan and the hill resorts of Bharat are Simla,Dalhousie,nainital and Almora.
  Pakistan has a great importance in South Asia.It lies situated in the north-west,between 24.0° and 36.75° North latitude and between 61° and 75.5° East longitude.Pakistan covers and area of 310,403 square miles.Four big countries namely:Russia,China,Iran and Bharat are our neighbours.In the west is Afghanistan.Arabian Sea in the south of Pakistan.Pakistan is liked with Saudi Arabia and East African countries through Arabian Sea. Thus the geographical position of Pakistan has given it an important position among the countries of Sourh Asia.
    The Physical features of the countries of South Asia are not the same Physical features mean the study of earth is natural features.At some places these are mountains and other places are plains.At some places there are deserts,while at other places there are fertile lands.Climate of all the South Asia countries too is not the same.Due to this population differs from place to place.The difference in population is due to the fact that the people like to live in those places,where the climate is good.
      Pakistan,Bharat and Bangladesh are the most thickly populated countries of South Asia.According to the census of 1991,the total population of Pakistan is 110 million.Muslims in Pakistan constitute 97% of the population.The population of Bharat,at present,is about 900 million.Hindus are in a majority in Bharat.Muslims form the second largest population in Bharat.The population of Bangladesh is nearly 115 million.Nepal has a population of 18.1million.Majority of the people live in the villages.
        Different occupation have been adopted by the people of Pakistan.Bharat and Bangladesh have adopted this occupation.Bharat produces almost all the agricultural crops which are produced in Pakistan.Cotton forms the most important cash crop of Pakistan.It plays a very important role in the economy of Pakistan.In wheat prodution Pakistan ranks eleventh in the world and forth in Asia.Wheat is also grown in large quantity in Bharat.Jute which is known as the `golden fiber` is the main crops of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is the chief producer of jute in the world.Jute earns a major portion of foreign exchange for this country.Jute is also cultivated in the province of West Bengal,Bharat.
       In South Asia industry is being developed rapidly.Lacs of people work in industries.They are called industrial workers.In all the big cities of South Asian countries,many people have adopted trade as their occupation.Many people are also engaged in service.They earn their living by doing jobs in government offices and private firms.
      Almost all the countries of South Asia have beautiful cities.The population in the cities are increasing day by day.The main cities of Pakistan are Karachi,Lahore,Quetta,Peshawar,Hyderabad,Rawalpindi etc. Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan.It is the most beautiful city of Pakistan.Dehli is the capital of Bharat.Other important cities of Bharat are bombay,Calcuta,Madras,Agra,Banglore,etc.Dhaka is old historical city and capital of Bangladesh.Chitagong and Khulna are the main cities of Bangladesh.Katmandu is the capital of Nepal .
